Time together, on record
We meet every Saturday, 12 to 2 PM, at the Loden Office Top Floor Meeting Room in Thimphu. Below is every session we've written up, newest first. Photos are added by organisers afterwards; send yours to hi@thimphutechmeet.com and we'll include them.

A casual session, every Saturday from 12:00 – 14:00. No sign-up, no agenda you have to follow. Walk in, or email ahead if you want to give a talk.
Planning a hackathon
A full table this time. We spent the session working out what a Thimphu hackathon could look like: who it is for, how long it should run, and what would make people turn up on a weekend.
Discussing a hackathonPersistent memory for AI agents
Tashi Norbu presented his project for keeping context and knowledge available when switching between coding agents such as Claude Code and OpenCode. Agents change; the project's memory should not. He left with a small gift from the group and his write-up is on the site: Persistent Memory Infrastructure for AI Agents.

Kelden walked through six classic artificial-life systems worth demoing live, from Conway's Game of Life onwards, and ran a small Particle Life model. We also put a question to a swarm of Kimi Claw agents and watched them argue about why AI took off after 2022. The notes are written up in Artificial life: topics to explore.

Small turnout, no agenda. Three of us on a bench with one laptop and a pot of tea, which is sometimes exactly the right size for a meetup.
Three of usLaptops on the terrace
A working session on the terrace: two laptops, a sketch on a tablet, and a website being pulled apart on screen.
Working sessionTea in the garden
Early spring, outdoors, teapot on the table. A relaxed conversation rather than a formal talk.
Spring sessionCafé session
A smaller April session at a café in town. Exact date lost to the group chat, but the thumbs-up survived.
April, at the caféThimphu Tech Meet begins
The first session. Six of us around one laptop on a terrace, tea in hand, hills behind. Mathew showcased his Ollama.cpp setup for running language models locally, and the idea of a regular meetup for people who build things stuck.
